Valve's Steam Frame costs $1,059 / €1,049 for the 256GB model and $1,299 / €1,279 for the 1TB model. Both kits include Steam Frame Controllers and Half-Life: Alyx, but not a power supply. Valve opened a randomized reservation list on September 14, 2026 in supported regions, with initial signups closing September 17 at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CEST.
Price and availability checked September 15, 2026. Valve's regional prices, reservation status, and fulfillment estimates can change.
Steam Frame price by model
| Model | United States | Euro pricing | Storage | Included |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Steam Frame 256GB Kit | $1,059 | €1,049 | 256GB plus microSD slot | Headset, controllers, wireless adapter, Half-Life: Alyx |
| Steam Frame 1TB Kit | $1,299 | €1,279 | 1TB plus microSD slot | Headset, controllers, wireless adapter, Half-Life: Alyx |
The two models share the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of RAM, displays, tracking system, controllers, and wireless features. The meaningful difference is storage capacity.
Valve also lists prices of £889, $1,529 CAD, and $1,609 AUD for the 256GB kit, while the 1TB model costs £1,089, $1,859 CAD, and $1,969 AUD. Confirm the final amount on the official Steam Frame store page because taxes, currency, and purchase availability depend on region.
Can you buy Steam Frame now?
Not like a normal in-stock headset. Valve is using a reservation list in supported Steam regions.
- Sign in on the official Steam Frame page.
- Select either the 256GB or 1TB model. Eligible customers can register for one model only.
- Join before September 17, 2026 at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CEST to enter the initial randomized allocation.
- Valve says it will send the result within a day. The first purchase emails are expected on September 18.
- Customers beyond the available first batch move onto a waitlist and may receive a later purchase invitation.
This is not first come, first served during the initial signup window. Joining earlier does not improve your position in the randomization. Valve's reservation announcement contains the latest official terms.
Is Steam Frame available in every country?
No. Steam Frame purchasing is regional. The store currently exposes prices and reservation controls in supported US and European markets, but other countries receive an unavailable message instead.
Signing into Steam or changing the display currency does not guarantee that Valve ships hardware to your address. Check the product page while signed into your normal account and region before making plans around the reservation deadline.
What comes with Steam Frame?
The standard Steam Frame kit includes:
- The Steam Frame headset
- Two Steam Frame Controllers
- Valve's dedicated Wi-Fi 6E wireless adapter for PC streaming
- Access to Half-Life: Alyx
- 256GB or 1TB of internal storage, depending on the model
- A microSD card slot for expansion
The headset uses a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, two 2160 × 2160 LCD panels, eye tracking, inside-out tracking, and SteamOS 3. It supports wireless PC streaming and a growing selection of standalone VR and non-VR games.
Does Steam Frame include a charger?
No. Valve explicitly says the power supply is not included.
Valve sells a 45W USB-C power supply for $29 / €39, but says a Steam Deck charger or an equivalent USB-C Power Delivery charger can work. Check that an existing charger and cable support at least 45W before relying on them for play while connected to power.
Other launch accessories include:
| Accessory | US price | Euro price | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steam Hardware Power Supply Unit | $29 | €39 | 45W USB-C power supply with 2.5m cable |
| Ergonomic Accessories Kit | $59 | €69 | Controller straps, top strap, battery doors, extended light blocker |
| Accessory Replacement Kit | $49 | €59 | Face gasket, head cushion, standard light blocker |
These Valve accessories are listed as available with a Steam Frame purchase rather than as normal standalone orders at launch.
Steam Frame release and reservation timeline
| Date | What happens |
|---|---|
| September 14, 2026 | Valve reveals final prices and opens the Steam Frame reservation list |
| September 17, 2026 at 10 AM PT / 7 PM CEST | Initial randomized signup window closes |
| Within one day of the deadline | Valve emails customers with reservation-list or waitlist results |
| From September 18, 2026 | First purchase invitations are expected |
| After the first allocation | Waitlisted customers may move into the purchase queue as stock becomes available |
Valve has not promised one universal delivery date. A reservation result or purchase invitation is more useful than calling September 18 a guaranteed shipping date.
Is Steam Frame worth $1,059?
Steam Frame is aimed at players who already have a valuable Steam library and want Valve's dedicated wireless PC streaming, eye-tracked foveated streaming, and a more open SteamOS device. Those features are distinctive, but the starting price makes it a premium headset rather than an obvious Meta Quest replacement.
Meta Quest 3 remains the safer choice for most first-time VR buyers because it is more affordable, widely available, has full-color passthrough, and already supports a mature standalone catalog. Steam Frame makes more sense if Steam is your primary library and the wireless PC experience is worth the premium.

Steam Frame price and availability FAQ
How much does Steam Frame cost?
Steam Frame starts at $1,059 in the US or €1,049 in supported euro markets for 256GB. The 1TB version costs $1,299 or €1,279. Both include controllers and Half-Life: Alyx, but neither includes a power supply.
What is the Steam Frame release date?
Valve announced the final price and opened reservations on September 14, 2026. The initial randomized signup closes September 17, with the first purchase emails expected September 18. Actual delivery timing depends on allocation, stock, and region.
Is Steam Frame available for preorder?
Valve calls the process a reservation list rather than a conventional preorder. Customers register for one model, receive either a reservation-list or waitlist position, and wait for an invitation before completing the purchase.
Does Steam Frame work without a gaming PC?
Yes, for compatible standalone games. Steam Frame runs SteamOS on an ARM processor and can play a growing selection of Steam Frame Verified VR and non-VR games locally. A capable PC is still required for demanding PC games that must be streamed.
Are Steam Frame Controllers included?
Yes. Both the 256GB and 1TB Steam Frame kits include a pair of tracked controllers with VR inputs and a split gamepad layout for non-VR Steam games.
