Bootstrap Island is now available on PlayStation VR2
Maru VR has launched Bootstrap Island on PlayStation VR2. The VR survival adventure is available today for $24.99 / €24.99 and arrives with all major content updates released since its PC VR debut.
Inspired by Robinson Crusoe, Bootstrap Island casts players as Daniel, a 17th-century merchant stranded on a tropical island after a shipwreck. Survival depends on interacting with connected systems including fire, weather, liquids, wildlife, physics, and a day-night cycle rather than following a scripted path.
Players can explore beaches, jungles, caves, riverlands, cliffs, and volcanic areas while gathering resources, cooking food, fishing, building shelters, and manually operating period weapons. Resources, weather, and threats change between expeditions, while cumulative survival time unlocks tools and equipment across playthroughs.
The adventure unfolds across four story chapters that introduce new areas, mechanics, and challenges. Players will also encounter the island's local tribe, where communication and player choices can open trading opportunities or create new enemies.
The PlayStation VR2 edition supports eye-tracked foveated rendering, adaptive triggers, Sense controller haptics, and headset feedback. Bootstrap Island is available now from the PlayStation Store.
