Is Gears of War: E-Day on PS5?
No. Gears of War: E-Day is not available on PS5, and there is no announced PS5 release date as of October 21, 2026. It launched on Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 6. The Gears game you can buy on PlayStation is Gears of War: Reloaded, a separate release.
We checked the official E-Day platform listing, Xbox's launch announcement, and Reloaded's PlayStation page on October 21, 2026. Future platform announcements could change this answer.
Which platforms can play E-Day?
| Platform | E-Day availability |
|---|---|
| Xbox Series X and Series S | Available now |
| Windows PC through the Xbox app / Microsoft Store | Available now |
| Windows PC through Steam | Available now |
| PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro | No version announced |
| PlayStation 4 | No version announced |
Xbox's launch announcement confirms the Xbox and PC releases. A PS5 copy of Reloaded does not give you access to E-Day; check the full game name before purchasing a disc, download, or code.

Why is Gears of War: Reloaded on PS5?
Reloaded and E-Day tell different stories. Gears of War: Reloaded is a remaster of the original Gears of War, released on PS5 on August 26, 2025. E-Day is a new prequel about the beginning of the Locust invasion.
| Game | What you are buying | On PS5? |
|---|---|---|
| Gears of War: Reloaded | The original campaign, remastered | Yes |
| Gears of War: E-Day | A new campaign set during Emergence Day | No announced version |
Reloaded is therefore the straightforward choice if you want to try Gears on a PS5 today. Sony's page lists campaign split-screen, online co-op, and crossplay across its supported platforms. You need PlayStation Plus for online play.
Those features belong to Reloaded. Its PlayStation release and crossplay support do not establish that E-Day will receive the same treatment.
Will Gears of War: E-Day come to PS5 later?
There is no announced date to wait for. Microsoft's current E-Day page lists Xbox Series X|S and Windows, without a PlayStation edition.
If PS5 is the only system you intend to use, a rumored port is a poor basis for a purchase. Wait for an official announcement that names the platform and release window. We will update this guide if Microsoft or The Coalition announces one.
Is E-Day on Game Pass?
Yes. E-Day is included with Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. The Coalition confirmed those plans in its launch preparations announcement.
Choose the subscription for the hardware you will actually use, and check the current catalog before paying. A PC subscription does not turn the game into a PS5 release. Xbox Play Anywhere is also a separate purchase entitlement: Microsoft's E-Day page describes console-and-PC access with shared progression, not a PlayStation license.
Is it worth finding another way to play?
Our Gears of War: E-Day Xbox Series X review praised the presentation, performances, and the way Kalona changes as the invasion unfolds. We were less enthusiastic about the drawn-out firefights. That matters if you are considering access to another system just for this game: loving the setting does not necessarily mean you will love spending hours in its familiar combat loop.

E-Day PS5 FAQ
Can PS5 players join E-Day players on Xbox?
There is no PS5 edition of E-Day to join from. Reloaded is a different game, even though both feature Marcus and Dom.
Is there a PS5 preorder for E-Day?
No official PS5 edition or release date is announced in the sources checked above. Do not mistake a Reloaded listing for an E-Day preorder.
Do I need to play Reloaded first?
E-Day takes place before the original game's events. Reloaded can introduce you to Gears on PS5, but it is not an expansion, prerequisite purchase, or unlock for E-Day.
