It is really hard quantifying what Flewn is. For starter well, it's not really a game nor it's an interactive experience, but in the end none of that really matter. And as strange as that might sounds, what this, what Flewn delivers it's quite emotional and powerful. 20 minutes is what you get, 20 amazing minutes of a heart warming story, beautiful vistas and probably the cutest collection of animals you have ever seen.
The only thing you are able to do is swipe the screen right to left to read and see the beautiful story of an old whale walking on stilts through the desert while holding a collection of mini aquariums with small fishes inside shaped in the form of a small city trying to find the ocean. Yeah, it's really far out there, but the concept and what happens later really hits too close to home.
At least for me it did, I don't know. Maybe I'm growing older and I'm just starting to understand how difficult life really is with the responsibilities weighing me down, but as the whale I have to continue pushing forward and if I fail, I find solace in knowing that my friends and family are there to help. It's a powerful message that maybe not everyone will get and they'll end up writing off Flewn.
As you can see there is no score in this review cause giving Flewn a score for me is not possible. I cannot score an experience, no one can since no one will experience it the same. There are no secrets to find, no alternative endings, no buttons or switches to press, there's only the powerful combination of a stunning visual and text storytelling. It's an emotional rollercoaster that hits you right in the feels if you can relate to the story and that's perfect. But for most of the iDevice user it might not be, especially considering the premium price of $3.99.
What you get for your bucks is 20 minutes of a wonderful and inspiring story, a series of visually stunning backgrounds, the cutest renditions of animals you've ever seen and a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack. Oh there's also a "game" within which is so barebones that it's not even worth mentioning. So if you want something to awe and transport you to a better place, Flewn it's definitely worth checking out. Thanks for reading!
