Tom’s Last Adventure

A cat-led rage platformer whose handling and art style left me cold on the Ally X.

Tom’s Last Adventure is a 2D precision platformer about a celestial cat trying to reach a new home. It’s firmly in rage-platformer territory, with traps, spikes, and unforgiving jumps standing in your way. Star powers add abilities to help you navigate its obstacle courses.

Playing the review build on the ROG Xbox Ally X, I didn’t like how it felt in the hand. In a game built around precise movement, that made it hard for me to enjoy the challenge. The art style didn’t click with me either, so the presentation wasn’t giving me much reason to stick around. I’ve played similar games that felt far more engaging and interesting, and this session left me wanting to return to those instead.
