InnerspaceVR, the powerhouse VR studio behind acclaimed hits like A Fisherman’s Tale and Maskmaker, has officially revealed its next major project: Spymaster. Inspired by classic spy movies like Mission: Impossible and Ocean’s Eleven, this stylish espionage adventure is set to challenge players' tactical skills when it launches in Early Access later this year.
In Spymaster, the world is under the thumb of the nefarious Protocore and its ever-watchful CEO, Protus. As the latest member of the last independent spy agency, NODE, players must step into the shoes of three unique agents, each with their own specialized skills and traits.
Tactical Espionage with a Temporal Twist
The core of Spymaster’s gameplay revolves around the C.A.S.S.E.T.T.E., a high-tech gadget that gives agents a tactical edge by allowing them to rewind time. This Temporal Replay System enables players to replay and revise every aspect of their mission, finessing their approach to overcome increasingly dangerous obstacles.
Balthazar Auxietre, Co-Founder of InnerspaceVR, emphasized the studio's commitment to premium single-player VR experiences:
"In a VR industry shifting toward free-to-play and multiplayer games, we are standing up for premium single player games in VR. Spymaster is our most challenging game to produce to date because we are exploring a new kind of gameplay, fusing puzzle and action mechanics in a way that has never been done in VR."
Key Features:
- Become a Secret Agent: Switch between three different spies to save the world, each bringing unique abilities to the field.
- Rewind Time: Use the Temporal Replay System to perfect your strategy and execute flawless missions.
- Dynamic Missions: No two missions are alike, from defusing bombs to poisoning villains, requiring a fresh approach every time.
- Unbroken Momentum: Smoothly navigate environments by running, climbing, sliding, ziplining, and shooting your way to safety.
Spymaster is coming to Meta Quest and PC VR via SteamVR as an Early Access title in 2026. Keep an eye out for more details during GDC 2026 this March, where InnerspaceVR will be demoing the game.
