Sol Protocol emerges from Singular Perception as a cooperative VR space roguelike focused on teamwork, physical starship management and deep space exploration
Sol Protocol, the newest project from Singular Perception, has made its public debut during the Upload VR Showcase Winter 2025. The studio describes the game as a cooperative VR action roguelike where players work together to physically operate and maintain a starship while navigating hostile stellar systems.
An Early Access release is planned for early 2026 on both Quest 3 and SteamVR. Before that, players on Quest 3 can sign up for official Alpha Tests beginning December 5, shortly after the Upload VR Showcase. Access details and ongoing updates will be available through the Official Sol Protocol Discord. Although the team is focused on VR versions first, they are exploring the possibility of a non VR option on Steam so both VR and non VR players could join the same universe.
At its core, Sol Protocol is built around cooperation. Each player steps into a fully physical spaceship where every system can be touched, repaired, upgraded or destroyed. Teams of two or three can take on different interchangeable roles. One person might be piloting with a joystick, another manning weapons, while a third maintains the ship's engineering systems. Clear communication and quick improvisation are central to staying alive as encounters escalate.
The loop leans into exploration and reactive teamwork. Crews will push deeper into procedurally generated star systems, moving inside and outside the ship to scan anomalies, engage enemies or deal with unexpected damage. Real time combat events appear dynamically, forcing players to juggle shields, power distribution, weapon heat, hull integrity and more.

Key Features
- Cooperative starship management where each player can operate any system including piloting controls, weapons, shields and the galactic holomap
- Deep space exploration both inside and outside the ship
- VR focused physical interactions such as grabbing flight joysticks, using tools and operating touch panels
- A modular ship design where every component can break, be repaired or be upgraded
- Real time strategic combat against procedurally generated threats
- Online cooperative play for 2 to 3 players with flexible role switching

Sol Protocol aims to blend immersive VR interactions with roguelike unpredictability, creating a spacefaring experience where teamwork determines survival. With Alpha Tests about to open and Early Access on the horizon for 2026, players will not have to wait long to see how this cooperative starship adventure takes shape.
