Buy Meta Quest 3 if you want a headset now, already own Meta Horizon games, or care about color passthrough and mixed reality. Wait for Steam Frame if most of your library is on Steam, you own a VR-ready PC, and you are comfortable waiting for Valve to confirm price and exact availability.
Not for every game. Valve says Steam Frame can run a growing selection of VR and non-VR games on the headset through SteamOS and compatibility layers. It is still designed primarily for low-latency streaming from a PC, and a VR-ready PC is needed for demanding PC VR titles that do not run well standalone.
Steam Frame has stronger announced on-device specifications on paper, including Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and 16 GB of RAM versus Meta Quest 3's XR2 Gen 2 and 8 GB. That does not prove better real-world VR performance: final software, cooling, power limits, game optimization, and independent testing still matter.
