Lifeline Review

Lifeline is a game where you help an astronaut stranded on a moon after his ship exploded and killed almost all of its crew. Taylor ( the astronaut) must search for survivors and find a way to get out of there. Lifeline is a gamebook/adventure game where your choices mean life or death for your astronaut friends. With its wonderful story and its incredibly immersive style, this game will stay with you for a while.

The game opens up with the text messages of an astronaut explaining his situation (or her as the game lets you play as either gender) and then even more text messages follow until you make a choice on what your response is going to be. Depending on that, you may cause him to die or eventually lead him to safety. I really don't want to spoil the story for you BUT IT HAS ALIENS! And so much more!... The best thing is seeing it unfold before your eyes.

Now, again, this is quite a simple game to understand, but that doesn't mean that it's like a one or two hour game much like every mobile games nowadays. You simply cannot finish this game in an hour or two or even a day if your reading speed is faster than The Flash (sorry Flash). That is because after you make a decision, Taylor will tell you that he's on it and you have to wait anxiously for a little bit to hear back from him. This makes the game feel real and might make you question if there really is an astronaut out there who needs your help!

So that's about it for Lifeline, I guess. The story and the writing are both interesting and intriguing at the same time. It really feels like you are speaking to or texting someone and depending on your choices how it ends is up in the air. The AppleWatch version, although I personally didn't test it, is where the money's at. Quickly replying from your wrist seems quite the experience as Taylor relies on you to help him and that is something we have not seen before.

Now the most important question, is Lifeline for you? Well, if you don't like gamebook games then stay away from Lifeline. If you've never played one before then give Lifeline a chance. You might find out you like them! Or just get it, it's only $1 for god sakes!
