The Most Addictive Word Games on Mobile

Love Wordle? You’ll love these

Are you a Wordle master who wants more than one puzzle to solve every day? Well, look no further than this selection of the 5 most popular and addictive word games on mobile!

1. Boggle with Friends: Word Game

The classic family board game wrapped up in a handy app. The game works by challenging you, your friends and family to spell the most words in 2 minutes from a grid of nine random letters. It’s simple, elegant and easily competitive.

Boggle with Friends is free to play; however, in-app purchases are available for additional content and in-game currency.

2. Taboo: Official Party Game

As you would expect from the makers of the official Monopoly and Cluedo, they went the extra mile with the official mobile version of Taboo! Including in-game video chat means you can play face-to-face with your friends and family in-game. Online games with video chat can be played between 2-6 players, but if you’re face-to-face in the same place there’s no player limit at all! Draw a card and describe the word on the card without using that word, or any of the taboo words listed. It’s simple fun that gets loud and funny, fast. It’s also available in multiple languages, so you can out-talk your favourite people in English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Greek, Polish and Hindi!

Taboo is free to download and gives you one round to try, without any commitment.

3. Words with friends 2

A brain trainer for lovers of timed rounds. Words with Friends 2 is a crossword board game app you can play on your own, or with others. It claims to expand your vocabulary and show off your spelling skills, and the aim is to get the highest scoring word in different challenges and games. This is a good one if you want to play a mixture of different word games in one place.

Words with Friends 2 is free to play, but ads appear between every move unless you buy Words With Friends Pro.

4. Kitty Letter

There are legions of cats in this game. You go head-to-head with a friend to unscramble words and stop your neighbour’s cats from destroying your house. There’s 1v1 games plus a single player campaign.

In the words of Kitty Letter - “Earn or buy completely powerless cosmetics if you really want!”

5. Elevate - Brain Training

Selected by Apple as “App of the Year”, Elevate describes itself as a “program designed to improve focus, speaking abilities, processing speed, memory, math skills and more”. There’s no multiplayer here. It’s a fun app for serious puzzlers who want to track performance and measure success! Let’s not call it the Olympics of the word games, but it’s almost the Olympics of the word games.

Elevate is free, but does come with in-app purchases.

Wordle has got everyone guessing and sharing their scores. As a result, the word game genre is booming. So why not join your friends and give one of these a try?!
