Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX "Review"

Here we go again...

As I clearly stated in the previous Kingdom Hearts collection review, I knew well, still know nothing about the Kingdom Hearts story. I know the basic idea or premise and that's about it. When I got the previous collection I got excited as I was about to play something I dreamed of playing one day and to be honest I haven't even thought of going back to play the rest of that installation which name I forgot. Something pretty similar happened with this collection too. So am I the best guy to tell you to buy or not this? Well, no, but I have some things to say about this whole collection, repackaging, call it whatever you like.

The first thing that, in my opinion, is the most important thing is that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 ReMIX has a ton of content to play through. Four games, each with a couple dozen hours of gameplay, maybe even more if you are going for completionist runs, that's quite a lot and a double-edged knife in my opinion. I would love to play all four or at least 1 & 2 just to understand what the heck is happening, but at the same time I was scared to even start playing. See, I don't have a hundred hours to fully immerse myself into this world and even if I would have managed to find that time, there are a lot of games in my backlog, newer, shorter and more interesting games, in my opinion, that take priority over Kingdom Hearts and this is the ugly truth about this review.

I haven't completed any of the games in this collection. I played enough to just see how they run and looked on the PS4, but that's about it so I am not going to talk about the story of each game, what happens, who's who and what's what as I have really no clue about anything. However, I can talk about the presentation which I have to say that I quite liked it.

While they will not blow you away with insane photorealistic graphics, textures and animations, they do look really good and run really smooth and that's mainly due to the timeless Disney's visual style. The vibrant color palette and charming character designs everyone knows and loves looks really good on the big screen. Well, maybe not as good as the new game running in UE4 in the last collection I reviewed, but still good enough.

As for the gameplay, again, I am not your guy. But it was nice to see the evolution, especially of the real-time squad-based melee combat, as I played through each game. And what I saw was just the tip of the iceberg. Usually, these type of games introduce new elements, mechanics, systems and a ton of minigames that RPG fans mostly like, but again I don't know since I didn't play them for more than a couple of hours combined.

I know this is a short review. Well, it's not a review like at all, at least not like the ones I usually write hence the quotes. Consider this as a filthy casual's first impressions about the Kingdom Hearts remastered games. Just to recap this remaster contains Kingdom Hearts Final Mix which is first Kingdom Hearts game, Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories a 3d remake of a GBA game, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep, Kingdom Hearts 2 Final Mix and two animated movies.

As I previously mentioned, that's a lot of stuff to go through so in terms of it's asking price, this is more than worth it. But will I go back to play them, let alone try to finish them? I don't think so for the main reason I discussed above, but am I excited about Kingdom Heats 3? Heck yeah! Thanks for reading this "review".

Asymmetric Spring Update Lets You Play An Easter Egg

This time, it is a spring update, which brings four new characters, four new stickers and a brand new spring theme! As always, this theme changes the look of the game if you play with one of the new characters, but also some old characters got the spring theme attached! The pair Easter-Bunny and Easter-Egg is unlocked as soon as the game is updated, the rest can be bought using the in-game coins (and as always, these coins are only receivable by playing the game - there are no In-App Purchases). Asymmetric is also on sale for just 99c (instead of 1.99), in celebration of this update.
