Hungry Giraffe Review

The premise of the game is really simple. You should continuously eat food to raise your giraffe's head as much as you can.

You control the head of a giraffe. You gain momentum by eating different foods like burgers, chips, fruits etc. This propels the head up into space. Missing the food will cause losing the momentum and your giraffe head will start to fall. You can regain the lost momentum by eating food very quickly or using the "power-ups", which you have to eat while falling down, to propel the head up again very fast. Such "power-ups" are a chilli pepper or a hard hat.

Of course this is not as easy as it seems. During the ascent there will be even obstacles like anvils, poison vials which can cause your giraffe to vomit and paint your screen with splashes of different colors or even invert the controls and the colors of the game for a brief moment. Also there are the dumbells which make the giraffe's head fall faster. The game starts easy, but it gets really serious very quickly.

Then there are the graphics. I played the game on a PS3, on a big HDTV and let me tell you, the game looks amazing. The colors are vibrant and the animations of the giraffe are very cool. I also loved the sound the giraffe makes when you eat something. The music is also very interesting which creates a joyous atmosphere.

All in all Hungry Giraffe is a good game for the price it got. Sure it could have been a lot better if a leaderboard was included, more patterns for the foods and maybe different "power-ups" or obstacles to keep the game fresh, but for a minis title it is pretty good. You should give it a try.

8/10
