CharityStars is offering gamers the chance to get their hands on a PlayStation 4 (PS4) 20th Anniversary Edition, by auctioning a final batch of five consoles for charity. Funds raised from the auction will be donated to the Terre des Hommes ‘Indifesa’ campaign.
The charity, Terre des Hommes, protects children from violence, exploitation, and abuse. These final five consoles, donated by Sony Computer Entertainment Italia, are cult gaming items. The exclusive limited editions of the latest PS4 console, feature the same colours as the first PlayStation, which was released on sale in 1994. Gamers wishing to take part in the auction can visit:
In December 2014, Sony Computer Entertainment Italia donated 50 PlayStation 4 20th Anniversary Editions to Terre des Hommes, to help raise funds to combat violence against children. Paolo Ferrara, Fundraising and Communications manager for the charity said:
“The funds raised from the first 45 consoles have already generated 90,000 Euros, and this final batch could take us past the 100,000 Euro mark. Whatever happens this has been a brilliant result, allowing us to help hundreds of children all over the world, as well as more than 600 children who have been victims of violence in Italy, thanks to the support of Sony Computer Entertainment Italia who donated the first batch for auction”.
The “Indifesa” campaign aims to collect funds to fight child slavery in Peru and Ecuador, to prevent the infanticide of new-born girls in India, protect girls at risk of forced underage marriage in the Ivory Coast, Mozambique and Zimbabwe, and look after children in war zones such as Syria, Iraq and Jordan.
