Duuro Review - Escape The Hellevator

Escape The Hellevator is a fantastic game, just to have that out of the way. Now, you might have not heard about this game, yet. That's why I am here, to tell you about one of the best puzzle games you can find on the Appstore.

This is a game extremely similar to The Room 1 and 2, where your task is to solve all of the puzzles in the room to progress to the next. Also like The Room series, Escape the Hellevator has real-time 3D levels which allows you to swipe the screen to investigate in an intuitive manner. Each item you pick up can be examined and/or interacted with in a similar fashion. And I was extremely satisfied with the way these puzzles were designed. Much like in The Room, all the puzzles make actual sense.

For example in a level you have to pull down a rope to stop a ceiling fan, but you cannot reach it by hand. While searching in the level, you find an umbrella, but still you cannot reach it. So the only logical step is to attach something on top of the umbrella handle so you are able to pull the rope. And pretty much all of the other puzzles follow the same rule and it's quite satisfying to solve them, but you always have to remember that if something looks like a four digit code, might not be a four digit code...

As for the presentation, the game looks good, maybe not as The Room beautiful, but still it's a very detailed game. Each of the levels has a unique look and aesthetic that helps with the storytelling of the game. While the story will not blow you away cause well, the name of the game kinda tells the whole premise, the way how it's presented sure will. The "cut-scenes" that play out before a level are in a comic book/ graphic novel style much like the ones Max Payne 1 and 2 had, remember those? Sure you do, cause they were awesome. The ones in Escape The Hellevator remind me of them in a good way since every piece is detailed and very well made.

It kinda surprised me, but what surprised me even more is that this game is made mainly by just one guy. Yep, ONE GUY! And seeing how f*cking amazing everything is, it blows my mind. The only problems which are extremely minor are that the music and sounds that play in the background are a little high and get extremely repetitive really quickly. Oh also I should mention that the game bugged out two times while I was playing forcing me to force quit the app. But I guess that is fixed by now.

So in the end, Escape The Hellevator is a fantastic experience, with great presentation and clever puzzle design and gameplay. Hey dev, hurry up and give me Escape The Hellevator 2!!!

The game is available on both iOS and Android devices. Thanks for reading.

Duuro Review - Styx: Master of Shadows

A prequel of sorts to 2012's '_**Of Orcs and Men'**_, developer Cyanide Studios has opted to drop the admittedly clunky mix of turn-based and stealth mechanics in favor of your more traditional 3rd person stealthing found here in '_**Styx: Master of Shadows'**_. Patience, planning and perhaps a bit of courage are the weapons at your disposal, used to sneak your way through all of the game's obstacles in way of your next objective.
