Z Files: Infection tells the story of a world ravaged by the zombie apocalypse where the player is the hero. His decisions will shape the world around him and determine whether he lives to see another day. The video game mixes elements from gamebooks, comics, interactive fiction and role-playing games (with turn-based combat and dice rolls) with a dark comedy elements and a visual style inspired in Hellboy.
"I am thrilled to be taking part of a project that blends gamebooks, interactive fiction and comic books as it never has been before. Working with Greyman Studios to make this vision happen is an incredible privilege" said Ruber Eaglenest, Creative Director. "Our illustrator Francis Porcel is nurturing a stunning art direction that can be appreciated even now, in an early stage of development".
Our take: While we don't usually post Kickstarter links anymore, this one caught our attention. It was first brought to our attention by a Press Release from one of our PR friends and well, it look intriguing to say the least. The art is beautiful with a cool Walking Dead-ish vibe to it. The gameplay, while we are not 100% sold, looks interesting but until we try it, we can't say much about it. But I can say that we love that beautiful parallax scrolling. Anyway if you like what you see, help these guys out over at their Kickstarter.
This interactive comic represents a true revolution in the intersection between comics and gamebooks, resulting a digital transmedia product that will be available for iPad, iPhone, Android devices (smartphones, tablets), and desktop computers (for Windows, Mac OSX and Linux systems).
