Alveole is… something. Originally released on mobile and later Steam, I guess, is an experimental game that only has one input.
The entire game, if we can even call it that, revolves around a stick figure that runs inside a hamster wheel. In each run, 7 black spike obstacles spawn inside the wheel and you can either jump them or just get hit by them.
On the screen, you see different items, each one containing a hint of what you should do to “win” the run and get the trophy for that specific item. An item for example is a photograph of some mountains, seven peaks, like the seven spikes that spawn inside the wheel, where the last one is completely black. So to get that trophy you need to jump all six spikes and get hit by the last one. Boom, trophy unlocked.
It’s a very rudimentary and barebones game, but that’s ok cause it’s an experimental game after all. The presentation is extremely simple as there are only two colors, black outlined items on top of a white background. The music, however, is really really good, very atmospheric, kinda sad, and with a touch of melancholy. It makes you think about life and the obstacles that it throws in front of you and how you deal with them, exactly like the figure you’re controlling… huh how about that?
I don’t know what the price of the game is or will be as I got an early review code for it, but it’s tough for me to recommend Alveole. The only thing that I really liked or appreciated was the music so it’s up to you. Thanks for reading!
