Watch Nintendo’s Wii U press conference live this afternoon!

At 3pm today, Nintendo are going to be holding a Nintendo Direct presentation focusing entirely on the upcoming Wii U console, and you can watch it live this afternoon down below!

Earlier this morning during the Japanese presentation, the following details emerged…
  • The Wii U will launch in Japan on December 8th of this year.
  • The console will come in two different versions: a basic version that costs 26,250 Japanese Yen (which is around £209) and comes with 8 gig of flash memory, and a pricier one that comes with 32 gig of flash memory, and a “Nintendo Network Premium” subscription. That version will cost 31,500 yen, which translates to around £251.
  • Full details of what a Nintendo Network Premium subscription actually gets you have yet to be revealed, but it’ll come with eShop points to spend on downloadable content or games, and will give you a 10% return on all digital downloads.
  • Separate Wii U controllers cost 13,440 yen (£107 or so)
  • The Wii U Pro Controller will be available for 5000 yen (£39 approximately)
  • Every console will ship with a HDMI cable included.
  • New Super Mario Bros. U and Nintendo Land have both been confirmed for the Japanese launch.

This afternoon’s presentation should reveal the UK/EU price and release date for the machine, as well as additional info on upcoming software.
