Horizon Chase Review

Fast and quirky gameplay, eye pleasing aesthetic, killer soundtrack along with a bit of nostalgia thrown in, Horizon Chase is probably the most enjoyable racing game on the Appstore. Well, that one sentence is the short version of this review, now onto the more detailed one.

Horizon Chase is a racing game, but not like we are used to in the iOS world. No, it does not have the "realistic" driving physics of the Asphalt or Real Racing series nor their "photoreal" artstyle. Horizon Chase is something completely unique which beautifully taps into our nostalgia brain parts making you and me very happy.

Now if you are a 90's kid, like me, you should have played at least once that one Ferrari racing game, yes, that one, you know Outrun? Even though it's not, Horizon Chase, to me, is a masterful remake of that game. I remember fondly racing in my red Ferrari against the time to reach the next checkpoint in OutRun and well, I feel those same beautiful emotions playing Horizon Chase.

On the right lower side there's the gas button, which you have to keep pressed in order to go while on the side, there are the right/left buttons and the NOS above the other two. It cannot get any simple than this and still the level of control meaning the sensitivity the steering buttons have is astonishing. And you will need that sensitivity in order to get to first place winning the race in order to progress through the extensive career. Each race has 19 other AI controlled cars, which depending on the track and what car you have chosen, can range from old people driving skill to Top Gear's STIG skill. But it's not unfair or anything like that, yes it can get challenging, but that is also part of the fun.

As for the amount of content, Horizon Chase has a ton of it. It offers a globetrotting racing adventure where you start racing from California, going through some of the most famous cities like San Francisco and L.A, from there going down to Chile and Brazil, then crossing the ocean to race through Greece, Dubai, India finally reaching Australia. Each location has around 10 or more races, one being a bonus one. Completing all of the races, unlocks new and better cars and upgrades to the cars performance. So seeing everything, getting gold on all races and unlocking everything will take a while.

So should you pay $2.99 and get Horizon Chase? A big YES! It plays amazing, has a ton of content, no IAP bullsh*t and it sports a beautiful cartoonish artstyle which is super pleasing to the eye and of course, a b*tchin killer soundtrack, the tunes are just awesome. Get it now! Thanks for reading.
